Our Story...
Exhibit Information
A powerful new exhibit voicing young children’s perceptions of their hometown is now available for loan to public venues in the Chicago area. Developed by Columbia College Chicago in collaboration with the city of Chicago’s Department of Family Support Services and Crossroads for Learning, the exhibit illustrates the results of an extensive study conducted by teachers with their young students in various Head Start, Chicago public schools, and private early education programs. Children Connecting to the City allows the general public to see the amazing abilities and potential of young children, our society’s future.
We are currently soliciting for available venues to display the exhibit. The exhibit consists of approximately 20 panels that document children’s explorations of the City through photographs of their work, including drawings and dialogue. Panels are 4’W x 6’H. The ideal space would be about 800 to 1,000 square feet; however, there is flexibility. The exhibit may be loaned in segments to accommodate smaller spaces. Two booklets with Spanish translations travel with the exhibit.
